Reclaim The Ground

A two-week mini course in ground movement:

why it matters, how to start, and how to weave it into daily life.

Think about the last time you were on the floor.

Not because you had to be, but by choice.

For most of us, that’s harder to answer than it should be.

Not necessarily because anything has gone wrong, but because modern life stopped asking us to go there.

And over time, without really noticing, ground-level movement fades out.

This short course is a focused first step into ground movement,

and a great place to begin to move with more ease, in ways that fit into your actual life.

“I knew I wanted to get on the floor more often...more gracefully, more at ease. I knew it was possible. It really helps.”

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You choose the chair, sofa or step instead of the floor, without really thinking about it

  • You are noticing yourself hesitating before lowering down

  • Getting back up feels uncertain, or more effort than it used to

  • You’re not injured, you’re just more cautious than you once were

  • You see yourself as active or exercise regularly, but the floor still feels like unfamiliar territory

  • You want to play with pets or grandchildren, garden freely, or simply feel capable at ground level, without bracing yourself first

  • You wonder if this is just what getting older feels like

If any of that resonated, you’re in the right place. None of this is about something going wrong, it's about something that's going missing. And you’re not alone - these are the most consistent things people say when they first come to work with me.

Why this has happened - isn’t what you think.

Losing confidence with the ground doesn’t only happen when something has gone wrong with your body.

For many people, nothing has, it’s simply that modern life stopped asking for it.

We sit to eat, to work, to travel, to relax.

We have sofas and chairs for everything.

The floor becomes somewhere you go when you have to, not somewhere you choose.

So the body adapts. It gets better at what it does most, and loses ease in what it doesn’t.

This is not decline, nor the ageing process and it's not the inevitable shape of things.

It's adaptation, but 'use it or lose it' isn't true - because adaptation also goes the other way - at any age.

That’s what this course is about.

What's inside Reclaim the Ground

Two weeks of practical, approachable content built around one question: how do you bring ground-level movement back into real daily life, starting today?

The course opens with a short welcome section introducing the Move Well Wheel™, the framework that underpins everything, and the Everyday Ease Method™, the practical system for weaving movement into the day you already have - no new routine.

  • Week 1 - 'Low and behold' - why the ground matters and how to start

You’ll explore why spending time on the ground is one of the most effective things you can do for long-term mobility, strength and confidence, and why it’s far from passive.

You’ll try a range of sitting positions and identify one daily moment where you could be on the ground instead of in a chair. Short content, practical prompts, and a reflection journal are all included.

  • Week 2 - Move on the low down - moving confidently at or near ground level

This week the ground becomes a place of exploration, not just sitting.

You’ll move through a range of ways to move while you’re down there, building the kind of strength, coordination and confidence that feeds directly into how you move when you’re upright too.

These movements directly improve balance, alignment and everyday capability above the ground as well.

Week 3 - getting up and down with confidence - the natural next step,

is available inside the full Reclaim Everyday Ease course.

You can upgrade to the full self-paced course at any time by simply paying the difference.

Included each week…

  • Weekly Theme audio or video - the why behind the week’s focus, in plain language. Audio works on a walk; video if you prefer to watch. Your choice.

  • Your Move Choices - short movement videos showing a range of options. Start with a couple of anchor moves that feel accessible right now. With unlimited access, come back over time and keep expanding your repertoire.

  • Short Movement Mindset audio - practical reframes to help new habits stick

  • Your Movement Journal - prompts to help you notice, reflect and plan

  • Everyday Ease Ideas - a prompt sheet of ways to weave the movements into your actual day

Why the ground matters - in Wendy's own words

Before you decide, hear it in her own words.

The clip below is taken from a workshop entitled, Reclaiming the Ground.

These are the sections where Wendy explains why this matters more than most people realise, and why it’s not about age or ability.

Ready to start?

What this isn’t…

  • A workout or an exercise programme

  • A stretching routine

  • About pushing through continual discomfort to achieve a perfect position

  • About being told prescriptively what you should do

What it is…

It’s about understanding what ground-level movement gives your body, and why bringing it back into your life matters more than most people realise.

But more than that, it’s about agency. You’ll start to notice the moments already in your day; the tasks, the activities, the pauses, where you could choose the ground. And over time, those choices become habits. Built into your life, not bolted onto it.

The guidance throughout is clear and practical. Everything is broken into accessible options so you can find what works for you and start straight away, without needing to be able to do anything perfectly.

"I try to embrace the floor every day in big and small ways, and the days that I don't do it, I miss it."

A great place to start - and there’s more if you want it.

Spending more time on the ground doesn’t exist in isolation. The mobility, strength, coordination and confidence you build here feeds directly into how you move when you’re upright; your balance, your alignment, the way you lift and reach and walk. This is because ground movement reconnects you with the foundational movement patterns your body learned early in life. When those patterns are more available to you, everything built on top of them moves better too.

If this course starts to shift something for you, Reclaim Everyday Ease is the natural next step. It’s the full 8-week signature course - a comprehensive look at how you move through your whole day, at every level, in every direction, built around the life you actually live.

Week 3 picks up exactly where this leaves off, covering a variety of ways to get up and down from the ground with confidence, before moving through upright movement, balance, strength and bringing it all together into a movement plan that’s genuinely yours.

The £49 you’ve paid for this course is credited toward Reclaim Everyday Ease - it’s not an addition, it’s a head start. That applies whether you choose the self-paced course or join a live cohort.

If you finish these two weeks and want more of this - that’s where to go next.

Hi, I'm Wendy - 51, from Oxford, UK

I came to this work the hard way. At 40, after years of being active, I woke up one night unable to walk, and spent the next four years living with chronic pain that I couldn’t explain or fix.

What eventually changed things wasn’t a new exercise programme. It was looking honestly at how I moved throughout the whole of my day and realising how little of that had changed in years.

The ground was one of the first things I reclaimed, without forcing it, one daily moment at a time. That shift was bigger than I expected.

Now as a Human Movement Restoration Coach and founder of Reclaim Movement, I’ve worked with hundreds of people to rebuild movement confidence from exactly this starting point.

This course is the distillation of everything I’d tell someone who wants to begin from the ground up and I'm here to help you become the expert in your own body.

A few questions you might have

What if I struggle to get down to the floor?

For this course, you do need to be able to get down to the ground and back up, even if that currently means using furniture or support to get there. And if that feels like a struggle right now, that’s all the more reason to start. The very act of getting down and up more regularly, even once or twice a day over two weeks, is where change begins. You’ll notice how it feels at the start of the two weeks, and how it feels by the end.You don’t need to hold any position for long - that’s never the aim. The struggle is your evidence that this is something worth reclaiming. Progress is possible for everyone, starting exactly where you are. It’s about spending time on the ground, finding ways that feel manageable, and embracing a variety of different positions, because moving between them, rather than holding any one of them, is the whole point.

How much time does it take?

There’s a maximum of around an hour’s content per week, broken into short audios and videos you can dip into across the week. The movement videos offer a range of options - the intention is to choose one or two anchor moves to focus on, then come back and build on that over time. You don’t need to watch everything at once. But the real investment isn’t in the content, it’s in the awareness it gives you. Once you start noticing the moments in your day where you could choose the ground over a chair, or swap a seated task for a floor-based one, that awareness starts doing the work. The Everyday Ease Method™ gives you a practical framework for exactly that, using the time and tasks you already have, differently.

Is this suitable if I have hip or knee pain?

Some people come to this work with pain. Some come because of it. If you are experiencing pain, it’s important to seek advice from your doctor or physiotherapist before starting. As a movement coach, Wendy has built this course around adaptable movement with no forcing or pushing through pain. When we gently encourage the body to reclaim movement patterns it may have been avoiding, that’s often far more beneficial than trying to force change, and far more likely to create something that lasts.

Do I need any equipment?

No specialist equipment. You’ll need a space of around six foot square on a comfortable floor; carpet or a rug works well, with cushions or a folded blanket nearby to make it an inviting space you’ll want to return to. And a device to watch the videos and pen to complete your journal - because what we write, we invite!

How long do I have access?

Unlimited. This is a self-paced course with no time limit. Work through it at your own rhythm, revisit what’s useful, and come back to it whenever you need a reset.

What if I want to continue after the two weeks?

Reclaim Everyday Ease, the full eight-week signature course, picks up exactly where this leaves off. Week 3 covers a variety of ways to get up and down from the ground with confidence, before moving through upright movement, balance, strength and building a movement plan that’s genuinely yours.

The £49 you’ve paid for this course is credited toward Reclaim Everyday Ease, it’s not an addition, it’s a head start. That applies whether you choose the self-paced course or join a live cohort. There’s no obligation or pressure, but if you finish these two weeks and want more, it’s there waiting for you.

What if I need more support and accountability?

This course is self-paced, which works well for many people. And if you find yourself getting real benefit from these two weeks and know you work better over a longer period with structure, interaction and a community around you, the next live cohort of Reclaim Everyday Ease is the natural next step.

Each week you’ll join Wendy and a group of like-minded people for a live workshop, with an active community group for questions, encouragement and accountability throughout. Your floor is waiting!

It’s time to reclaim a movement that modern life is retiring, so that your body starts to remember what it’s capable of and feel the confidence, mobility and strength this key area of movement can bring back.

And as a participant Juliette said, "Once you see... you can't unsee it"

No perfectionism. Just progress
